Swimming for Boys and Girls was started in the 1984-85 school year under the direction of Sara Wax. Prior to the 1991-92 season, the North Central Ohio Swim League was formed with Calvert, Bucyrus, Galion, Colonel Crawford and Ontario as original members. Before the season began, Mary Ann Kromer took over for Wax and coached for three years before stepping down. Beginning in the 1994-95 school year, Janet Stover directed the swimmers, adding a Diving Team in 1997-98. In 1999-2000, she sent three to State Competition. In 2000, Nathan Coffman took over as the head swim coach. At the end of the 2000-01 swim season, Nathan Coffman stepped down and Jeremy Dreger took over the team for 2001-02. That season, Jessica Ewald made State for the third consecutive season. In 2002-03, Calvert had only three swimmers competing, therefore, Calvert did not fund a team. The three swimmers swam for SAC (Seneca Aquatic Club) was coached by Peggy Ewald. In 2003-04, Calvert’s lone swimmer was Samantha Ritzler. She was a state qualifier for three consecutive seasons from the 2004-05 season through the 2006-07 season, coached by Katie Slosser. Joely Beeker took over as head coach in 07-08, guiding the Senecas in conjunction with Columbian. Beeker resigned after the 08-09 season. Donna Hudacek will guide the swimmers for 09-10.
