Living the Calvert Example: A New Year with Purpose:
From the Desk of Dr. Jeremy Marinis, Head of School | August 2025
As we wrap up summer and prepare to welcome students back, a renewed energy is building across Calvert Catholic Schools. That energy reflects more than just the start of a new academic year—it reflects the intentional direction we’re headed as a school community, one that is Different by Design.
At Calvert, we don’t settle for the status quo. We lead with faith, uphold high standards, and shape young people to grow into unforgettable leaders. This year, we’re putting those values into action in new and meaningful ways.
We’re proud to announce Dr. Megan Schultz’s transition into a new leadership role as Chief Strategy Coordinator. Already a valued member of the Calvert community, Dr. Schultz now brings her extensive background in educational leadership to a broader, system-wide focus. In this position, she is guiding efforts to strengthen enrollment, enhance assessment readiness, refine internal operations, and more effectively communicate the Calvert mission. Her strategic leadership will help shape the future of our school while continuing to support the daily mission on both campuses.
We’re also reinforcing what it means to present ourselves as leaders. A revised student dress code for our Academy and High School ensures that modesty, professionalism, and dignity are front and center. All skirts, skorts, and shorts are designed to fall closer to the knee. Elementary students may opt into these new items, and a plaid option is available. Faculty and staff are also expected to model a polished and modest appearance, with casual wear reserved for spirit or dress-down days.
To protect classroom focus and encourage meaningful connections, we are also eliminating cell phone use during the school day for Academy and High School students. Our elementary students already follow this standard, and we’ve seen the positive effects it brings. Faculty should continue to model respectful, limited device use throughout the day.
These updates are more than just rules—they are reflections of our mission. They speak to the culture we are cultivating and the kind of young people we are helping to form. At Calvert, we believe education should create both the mind and the heart—and that the way we live, learn, and lead should point clearly to something greater.
Thank you for your continued commitment to this vision. Let’s make this year a powerful reminder of what it means to live the Calvert example.
