Dr. Marinis Monthly Memo- November 2026

November Monthly Memo | Dr. Jeremy Marinis
“Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, as indeed you do.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11
I recently came across this Scripture verse, and it has stayed with me. There is something powerful about the simplicity of those words. We are called not only to encourage one another, but to build one another up and to recognize the good in others.
When I think about that message, I cannot help but think about the responsibility and privilege we have at Calvert Catholic Schools. Every day, we are allowed to make a difference in someone's life. Sometimes that impact occurs through a lesson in the classroom, a conversation in the hallway, or a teacher who sees something in a student that the student has not yet discovered in themselves. These instances may seem small, but their influence can last a lifetime.
As Head of School, I spend a great deal of time thinking about the future of Calvert. How do we continue to grow? How do we strengthen the education we provide? How do we ensure more families have the opportunity to experience what makes this community so special?
But beyond those questions, there is one that means even more to me: What kind of impact are we leaving on the people who become part of Calvert Catholic Schools?
The genuine measure of Calvert's success goes beyond enrollment numbers, test scores, or improvements to our facilities. It is found in the confidence a student develops, the relationships they build, the faith they strengthen, and the people they become along the way.
That is what I believe it means to build one another up. And that is what I want every student and family to experience at Calvert.
As we continue welcoming prospective families, inviting students to experience a Seneca for a Day, and seeing new students find their place within our school, I find myself reminded of just how meaningful it is to belong to this community.
We absolutely want our school to grow, but we want to grow for the right reasons. We want more young people to experience an education centered on faith, surrounded by people who know and challenge them.
As we approach Thanksgiving, I find myself especially grateful for the faculty, staff, families, alums, and students who make Calvert what it is. There is already so much joy within our school, and my motivation is to protect that joy, build upon it, and ensure future generations of Senecas experience it too.
When we build up one young person, we have the potential to impact far more than one life. We impact their family, their future, and the people they will one day influence.
That is the kind of long-term impact we are working to create at Calvert Catholic Schools.
Thank you for being included in our Calvert family and for supporting us in living out this calling each day.
God Bless and Go Blue!
