There is something special about August.
Even before students return, you can feel it. There is a feeling of anticipation around campus as another school year draws near. Classrooms are being prepared, teachers are getting ready to welcome students, and families are expecting a fresh start. It is one of my favorite times of the year at Calvert!
However, this year that feeling is even stronger than it normally is.
Wherever you look on campus, you can see signs of growth. The new parking lot at the high school is nearly ready to welcome families for the first day of school. The renovations inside the St. Joseph Activity Center has completely transformed the space. Every week, the Dysard Athletic Complex becomes a little more of the vision we have been praying and planning for. Watching these projects take shape has been equally exciting and humbling.
As I look at all of this progress, I cannot help but consider the way God works in our own lives. He is always building. Sometimes the changes are obvious, and sometimes they happen quietly over time. But He is constantly forming us into who He has created us to be.
That is what Catholic education has always been about.
Yes, these new spaces will be beautiful. They will serve our students well for years to come. But what matters most has never been the buildings themselves. It is what happens inside them. It is the conversations, the prayers, the relationships, and the lessons that help shape young people into faithful leaders. Our campus may look different than it did a year ago, but our mission remains exactly the same.
None of this would be possible without the exceptional support of our Calvert community. Every improvement you see is a reflection of people who believe in our students and believe in the future of Catholic education. For that, I am deeply grateful.
As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, I hope you will take a few moments to stop by campus and see the progress for yourself. Walk through the Activity Center. Drive through the new parking lot. Take a look at the Dysard Athletic Complex as it continues to rise. These projects are certainly something to be proud of, but they are also reminders that Calvert Catholic Schools continue to move forward academically, socially, physically, and spiritually.
I am eager to welcome our students back. Here's to another year of growing together, trusting God's plan, and continuing to build a community rooted in Christ.
God Bless & Go Blue,
Dr. Jeremy Marinis
